About Us

Situated at the rear of the Industrial Museum in the Steam House in the grounds of Wollaton Park in Nottingham, the Nottingham Arkwright Society are a small team of volunteers dedicated to the maintenance and rebuilding of old steam engines of all type.

The team are enthusiastic about every aspect of the steam era and have successfully re-built and refurbished many historic engines.

The Steam House is the home of the famous Basford Beam Engines the center-piece of the steam museum.

All types of steam machinery are lovingly cared for at the society and the public are welcome to come along and enjoy the experience of steam on one of our open days. Here you can see many of the engines fully working and some in various states of restoration.
